Monday Myth Debunkers: You’re Too Good for Co-Star Work.

Let’s start off the new year with a myth we hear allll the time.

We get it, you want to hop the fence and skip to the good part.

But doing co-star work is actually an incredibly valuable (and important) step in your #actorjourney

Once you’re thrown into the guest start & up pool, things can get a lot more… competitive.

And while we are always interested and eager to meet new actors, we have to be mindful of the little time we are given to cast just about anything.

This means likely reading a higher ratio of actors we already know and trust for “the bigger roles” vs. the actors we don’t know.

Sound frustrating?

It shouldn’t!

Because many of these actors we got to know through….

Co-star roles.

You can have the best training, the most watchable reel, a collection of solid headshots, but the most important thing?

Getting your face in front of casting offices.

Whether that’s a Zoom audition, a self tape or (far off in the distant future), an in-person audition.

Either way, you need an opportunity to show us your greatness.

If you’re consistent in showing up with great co-star auditions, your probability for being brought in for larger roles shoots way up.

𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩.

Even if you’re not booking co-stars, we know that you’re the type of actor who we can rely on to deliver a great read.

And actors: that’s the goal.

Show up. Do great work. Be gracious and kind. And some very cool things will start to happen.

𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦.

Trust the process. And don’t say no to co-stars until you’re absolutely ready 😉
