The notion of “following rules” isn’t to be confused with following the directions that casting gives you for an audition or self tape:
Please always, always, 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 READ everything and follow those directions to a tee.
What we’re referring to is the “rules” of the industry.
We’re not talking about SAG rules or employment rules or the law.
We’re talking about INDUSTRY rules.
So which rules are those of “the industry?”

𝘈𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦?
Oh wait, there are none.
That’s right, when it comes to your career as you navigate this very tough and confusing business, there are no “rules.”
You may (WILL) get conflicting advice, hear a difference of opinion and feel like you are being guided in different directions.
We know this can feel incredibly overwhelming and confusing.
But remember,𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤 𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙨.
There are no rules for how to navigate a career in acting.
All you can do is listen and gravitate toward advice that resonates with you the most.
We always say actors are incredibly intuitive.
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀.
If someone tells you something that doesn’t feel good to you, don’t do it!
At the end of the day, what matters most is working hard at your craft and being a kind person in our community.
𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕪𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕖𝕝𝕤𝕖 𝕚𝕤 𝕒 𝕓𝕠𝕟𝕦𝕤.
