What’s so different about on-set life for daytime vs. prime time?

What makes daytime (more specifically, soaps) so much different from prime time TV is primarily the rate at which they need to shoot.
Think about it.
How often (typically) does a new TV episode air? Every week.
How often (typically) does a new SOAP air?
𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮. 𝘿𝙖𝙮.
Holy moly, that’s a lot of content to get through.
So what does that mean for YOU & your first soap job?
Get ready to develop some memorization skills at warp speed.
Soaps typically shoot anywhere between 1-3 (sometimes more) 𝙚𝙥𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙨 per day!
Translation = that’s a looooootta words to memorize.
Not only do soaps tape their rehearsals, but 90% of the time, they TAKE the rehearsal take and move on!
Don’t let that stress you out. It’s certainly an adjustment.
But because soaps move so much quicker, they are also MUCH more forgiving.
Keep these in mind when you book your first daytime gig:
– Follow the cues of the actors you’re working with.
– Don’t be afraid to ask questions ahead of time (especially to your reps).
– And make sure you get in some good rehearsal time at home if needed.
